Malakoff Kicks Off Read Across America

(Laredo, Texas)-Characters from fairytale lands and galaxies far, far away filled the halls of Malakoff Elementary School for the First Annual Books on Parade Event. Campus Librarian, Cristina Vidaurri, coordinated the event to share the joy of reading amongst students at the school. Students paraded the schools holding books galore donning superheroes, princesses, and even costumes after the main character from the book Wonder by R.J. Palacios. Andy the Armadillo from Texas Roadhouse joined in the festivities much to the surprise of students and parents alike.
This year marks the 21st anniversary campuses throughout the nation celebrate Read Across America. School across the district will be hosting several fun learning activities geared to promote reading amongst our youth.
