(Laredo, Texas)-One team, one goal, one vision is a motto long held by United South High School students and for one student that motto became a reality today. Emily Zapata signed her letter of intent to play with Division 1 Soccer Team at University of Texas Rio Grande Valley as well as accepted a full scholarship to the school.
Zapata is a four-year veteran of the mighty Panther Soccer Varsity Team. With over 200 goals under her belt, Zapata pawed her way through every goal her coaches set for her. Zapata has been named Offensive Player of the Year (2014,2015,2017) and All-City MVP (2014,2015,2016,2017), District 29’s Most Valuable Player (2016). Zapata is sure to be a great addition for the Vaquero team!
Zapata intends on pursuing a career in Education, where she hopes to live out her dreams of giving back to our youth. “We are extremely proud of Emily’s hard work and dedication, both on and off the field,” stated Adriana Ramirez, Principal at United South High School. “We are confident she will represent United South well,” she added.
Zapata will begin her collegiate athletic career in the Fall of 2018.
