Newly relaunched app renamed to reflect purpose
McAllen residents wishing to stay connected to their waste management services and programs can do so through their mobile phones. The recently redesigned McAllen Public Works mobile waste application has a new look and new name,McAllenRecycles, and may be downloaded from the Google Play Store or Apple Store for free.
The McAllenRecycles app makes it easy to stay connected to various information regarding residents’ collection services. Once the free App is downloaded, residents can enter their physical address on the search address pop up screen and obtain the calendar of their next collection day for the blue recycling bin, black trash bin and brush debris pick-up. Residents can also set up weekly collection reminders automatically by email, voicemail, and text and never miss their waste collection day again.
“In today’s fast-paced world, it’s nice to have reminders that the McAllenRecycles app provides,” said City of McAllen Mayor Jim Darling. “With so many other due dates to remember it’s easy to forget what day to put out your trash and recycling. Now with the McAllenRecycles app, residents can never forget.”
In addition to weekly reminders, the McAllenRecycles app also provides the Right Stuff. Right Bin. reference tool, andCURBY’s Collection Challenge game. The McAllenRecycles App will be an outreach tool for relaying information to McAllen residents as any changes in their waste collection services, holiday schedules, information on upcoming community events McAllen Public Works is hosting, and environmental messages to encourage McAllen residents to Recycle Right! and Keep McAllen Beautiful!
