TAMIU Students Celebrate Spring with ‘Revolution’

Spring is in the air, but before students at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) take off for spring break, the University will host “Spring Break Revolution” Monday, March 6 – Thursday, March 9.

Admission is free and open to TAMIU students.

“Spring Break Revolution” is a four-day annual event hosted by the TAMIU Office of Student Conduct and Community Engagement.
Monday, March 6: Sigma Nu Delta will host “Stay Alive, Don’t Drink and Drive,” from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Student Center (SC) rotunda. Also on Monday is “Staying Alive CPR Training” from noon – 2:30 pm.

Tuesday, March 7: TAMIU Student Health Services and TAMIU SCAN Prevention Project will hold a seminar on sex and alcohol safety from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. in SC 230. Students will receive sex and alcohol safety tips and education on how unsafe sex and alcohol can affect overall health. A Blue Heart Campaign initiative will also be introduced in an effort to raise awareness about the prevention of HIV, Hepatitis C, and HPV.

Students who attend the seminar will receive a blue heart—a symbol to raise awareness on the prevention of HIV, Hepatitis C and HPV, free lunch, goody bag, extra credit opportunity, door prizes and an opportunity to enroll for a study on coping with stress.
Wednesday, March 8: There will be an information fair from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the SC rotunda and from noon – 1 p.m., “TLC Drugs and Alcohol” in Bob Bullock Hall 101. From 8 a.m. – 11 p.m., there will be a spring fling at the University Village.

Thursday, March 9: Students will celebrate Holi, the traditional Hindu Spring festival, from 2 – 5 p.m. on the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center green and Rec Sports will host “Game of Life” at 6 p.m.
