(Laredo, Texas)-If you have a business or even thinking of opening one up then you won’t want to miss some small business workshops being offered by the Webb County Small Business Development Program.  The workshops are being made possible thanks to a $10,000 grant from the Governor’s Office.

“The Governor’s Office has made rural area business development as one of their priorities,” said Webb County Director of Economic Development Juan Vargas.  “The grant will allow Webb County to formulate a curriculum for small business development in rural areas.  These free workshops will assist not only current small business owners who may want to expand, but also those wanting to start a small business with the necessary information or ‘road map’ on how to realize their small business ideas.”

Vargas added that the complexity of correctly doing small business development which includes dealing with the IRS, State Comptroller’s Office, City ordinances, plus accounting and legal requirements will be addressed in these workshops.

The first workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, November 9that the Larga Vista Community Center located at 5401 Cisneros Street.

Additional workshops will be held November 15th at the Fred and Anita Bruni Community Center, November 16th at the Santa Teresita Community Center and November 17th at the Rio Community Center.

For more information you can call Webb County Economic Development Department at 523-4605.
