(The Tempest).

eros-rangelFrom an early age, Eros dreamed of emulating the success of his brother Enrique at Carnegie Hall, and certainly accomplished that goal during the 2016 contest in New York. This bright young musician has previously been cited as the 1st place Outstanding Performer in the 2015 Classical Piano Solo and Ensemble Competition at the University of Texas at Austin. He was also the 2nd Place winner of the 2015 Janice K. Hodges Contemporary Piano Competition at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Furthermore, he also received the Honorable Mention Award at the 2016 Texas Young Artist Piano Competition at Texas State University, and was a finalist in the 2016 Texas Music Teacher Association (TMTA) Piano Competition at Baylor University.  Eros also earned the title Best Pre-Collegiate Musicians’ Recognition at the San Antonio International Piano Competition’s 2015 Summer Student Showcase, as well as the 2015 Outstanding Student Award from the piano faculty at Baylor University. Eros is currently a junior at Alexander High School.

Eros’older brother Enrique Rangel debuted at Carnegie Hall in April of 2014, and went on to earn top accolades for his piano performances. To get there, Enrique had to outperform hundreds of players from around the globe in the American Protégé International Competition X. It is also notable that Enrique was the only Hispanic pianist to be named a winner in that competition. Enrique has also earned the title of Grand Prize Winner in the 2014 McKinney Young Artist Competition, and placed 1st at Texas State University at San Marcos in the 2014 Young Artist Piano Competition. Moreover, he earned accolades in the 2014 Five-State Baylor-Waco Piano Competition at Baylor University.  Enrique graduated from United High School, and is currently enrolled at TAMIU. The private piano teacher for Eros and Enrique is A.J. Collins-Thompson of San Antonio. Their proud parents are Enrique and Amelia Rangel.
