A great partnership that promotes the importance of daily school attendance!

(Laredo, TX: United ISD) Sames Kia of Laredo will continue to promote the importance of daily school attendance as they announced the 4th Annual “Kia in the Klassroom” Car Give-A-Way program. Details of the program were discussed this morning at a press conference held at the Sames Kia Dealership located at Mann Road and IH-35. One lucky United ISD high school student, who has perfect attendance, will win the keys to a brand new 2017 Kia Soul at the end of the school year.

“Sames is delighted to offer this program for the 4th year in a row,” said Evelyn Sames, Dealer Principal for Sames.  “Throughout our 106 years in business, we are also very proud to say that we’ve been a great supporter of education and our students.”

At the press conference last week, students from J.B. Alexander, Lyndon B. Johnson, United, and United South High Schools, student activity coordinator and school administrator were present.

The winner of this year’s Kia Soul will also have the tax, title and license paid for by the Laredo Federal Credit Union. A& K World Class Driving Class will offer a driver’s education package to the winner.

“On behalf of our Board of Trustees, I sincerely thank Sames Kia for continuing to offer this great incentive to our students. It’s a wonderful partnership that we want to continue to have for many, many years to come,” said United ISD Superintendent Roberto J. Santos.

The Sames “Kia in the Klassroom” program was created during in 2013 to encourage the importance of daily school attendance, at the high school level, throughout the school year.  Each time a student has perfect attendance for at least one nine-week period, they will be given a special voucher to drop off at the Sames Kia dealership which will be entered into the drawing for the Kia Soul.

A total of 16 semi-finalists, four from each high school, will be selected for the final phase of the give-a-way. The other 15 semi-finalists will receive a tablet, courtesy of Sames.

The program is open to all high school students enrolled in United ISD high school, from 9-12 grades.

Previous winners of the program were Angelica Fierro from United High School from the 2013-14 school year and Ingrid Jimenez from United South High School for the 2014-15 school year. Most recently, Leobardo Vasquez from Lyndon B. Johnson High School won the Kia Soul for the 2015-16 school year.
