(Laredo, Texas)- Students wishing to pursue an MBA degree at Texas A&M International University’s A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business can now do so fully online.
Previously, only one concentration was available online — now all four concentrations will be accessible to students online from wherever they are.
Concentrations now offered fully online include the MBA in International Banking and Finance, International Business (English and Spanish), International Trade and Logistics, and Management.
The International Trade and Logistics component is a brand new program option, which will be delivered starting this Fall.
Dr. Steve Sears, Sanchez School of Business dean, said previously students choosing the MBA program have been able to select from several options and to complete their degree in a 10-course program with traditional onsite, face-to-face classes with faculty.
“Now, we are now pleased to announce that, in addition to being able to take each of these three MBA degree plans with in-class instruction, students now have the option of completing all courses in each of these programs completely online,” Dr. Sears said, adding, “The MBA in International Business is also offered online in Spanish.”
The International Trade and Logistics degree option is a new addition which capitalizes on Laredo’s strategic location on the U.S.-México border, Dr. Sears said.
“Laredo is the third largest customs district in the United States and this, our fourth Sanchez School of Business degree plan, offers students courses aimed at providing training in areas of exports, imports, international logistics and licensing exam preparation,” Sears said.
Through an agreement with the National Customs Broker and Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA), students who complete selected courses in this newly developed curriculum will also receive certification from the NCBFAA Educational Institute, certifying them as course-ready to sit for the licensing exam, with the ability to become a Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Sears explained.
He also noted a jumpstart program that can further speed access to the School’s MBA Program.
“For students with non-business backgrounds, our three online, Pass-Fail Prep Modules, provide students with a low-cost, easy access to enroll in any of the School’s MBA degree options,” Sears said.
The modules can be completed in one summer term or one semester.
Leiza Nochebuena-Evans, graduate admissions counselor, said the Online MBA program is a 30-semester credit hour commitment, or the equivalent of a 10-course program.
“The MBA program at TAMIU offers the flexibility for working professionals to take courses on a part-time basis, with two courses per long semester and one during the summer,” Nochebuena-Evans said, “Students can still expect to finish their program in a two-year period.”
Accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB-International), the School of Business’ MBA program is ranked No. 3 nationally among the Top 50 Affordable MBA Programs in 2016 according to TopManagementDegrees.com.
The Princeton Review has ranked the School of Business third in the nation for “Greatest Opportunity for Minority Students,” and named it to the Best Business Schools West listing among the nation’s 295 most outstanding business schools.
