(Laredo, Texas)-During a specially-called meeting, the Webb County Commissioners Court moved to change the operating hours for departments under their purview. Elected officials will have the discretion to opt into the new county hours or set their own office hours for their department. The hour change pilot program will only be in effect Friday, July 8th through Thursday, September 29th.
The new hours of operation set by Commissioners Court will be Monday through Friday 7:30am to 6:00pm, with a 30 minute lunch. Through this pilot program, employees will be able to work their 40-hour weeks in four days, thereby allowing them either Mondays or Fridays off. Department heads will now schedule their staff accordingly to have a staffed office available for these extended hours.
Through these extended hours, the county aims to not only increase its availability to the public, but also increase employee morale.
