(Laredo, Texas)Finley elementary school Principal Joe Garza, United ISD Special Ed. Teachers, staff, students and parents were accompanied by United ISD Board President Ricardo “Rick” Rodriguez, Superintendent Roberto J. Santos and Judge Tano Tijerina to proclaim Autism Awareness Month, which runs through April 29. Garza reminded guests that United ISD schools and the District’s Cherish Center work hard to improve the lives of autistic children and their families.
“Studies and our experience have shown that patience and communicating with children with Autism while the child is young yields measurable results”, said Garza. The occasion was capped off by the release of a balloon bouquet to signify support for all children and adults who are afflicted with the condition. Autism Awareness Month is observed every year during the month of April. The campaign’s principal message is that every person with Autism be provided the opportunity to achieve the highest possible quality of life, acceptance and appreciation.
