TAMIU Summer Commencement Scheduled Friday, Aug. 14

More than 175 candidates for graduation will cross the stage at Summer 2015 Commencement Exercises at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, in the Kinesiology and Convocation Building at 6:30 p.m.
Commencement speaker for the ceremonies is David T. Newman, managing partner and vice-president, B.P. Newman Investment.
Newman helps oversee the management of 62 Church’s and Popeye’s franchise units as well as various real estate property management and ranch holdings.
He also serves on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity, Church’s Independent Franchise Association and the South Texas Workforce. He is chairman of the board of the Laredo Chamber of Commerce and was named a 2015 Junior Achievement Business Laureate.
Along with his wife, Lulu, Newman champions pet adoption and stroke victims programs.
Newman is also committed to higher education. Working closely with Church’s Chicken headquarters, Newman helped develop internship and local leadership programs benefitting students and graduates of the TAMIU A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business.
