Laredo, TX – The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has announced that Laredo Lemurs RHP Greg Holle has been named this week’s Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending July 5.
Holle made two starts this week without allowing an earned run. On Tuesday, he took the hill against the Joplin Blasters. Over 7.1 innings, Holle allowed an unearned run on four hits with a walk and a strikeout. He picked up the win in Laredo’s 4-1 victory. Five days later, Holle was back on the mound against the Grand Prairie AirHogs and took a tough-luck no-decision. He worked 8.2 shutout innings, scattering four hits with two walks and five strikeouts. The Lemurs fell 1-0 in extra innings on a walk-off double.
Holle is now 3-4 with a 1.42 ERA on the season. In 10 starts, he has worked 63.1 innings, striking out 38 and only walking nine. This is Holle’s first season in independent baseball after five seasons in the Milwaukee Brewers’ system. Holle appeared as high as the Class AAA Nashville Sounds.
The Lemurs, in the thick of the American Association Wild Card race, open a road series at the Wichita Wingnuts tonight at 7:05 p.m. Central time at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita.
