CBP Officers Seize $1 Million in Heroin, Cocaine at Laredo Port of Entry

Laredo, TexasU.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Laredo Port of Entry this weekend seized a significant combination load of alleged heroin and cocaine valued at $1 million.

“Our frontline officers at Gateway to the Americas Bridge successfully shut down a million dollar combination load of hard narcotics and prevented them from being peddled on America’s streets,” said Port Director Joseph Misenhelter, Laredo Port of Entry. 

The seizure occurred on June 7 at Gateway to the Americas Bridge when CBP officers referred a 2008 Dodge Avenger driven by a 55–year-old male Mexican citizen from Aguascalientes, Mexico for a secondary examination. During the examination, CBP officers discovered a combined total of 16 packages hidden within the vehicle. Upon further examination, CBP officers discovered eight packages that contained 32.54 pounds of alleged cocaine, street-valued at $250,920. CBP officers found another eight packages that contained 33.6 pounds of heroin, carrying an estimated street value of $762,000.

 

 

CBP officers seized the narcotics, vehicle, arrested the driver and turned him over to Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation.
