(Laredo, Tx)-Kind-hearted students of Lamar Bruni Vergara Middle School’s Student Council and Dance Team Joined efforts to collect teddy bears for the Webb County Sheriff’s office Share-a-bear project. The Share-a-Bear Project is hosted by Webb County Sheriff’s Office with an effort to collect teddy bears (new or lightly used) for children who have experienced traumatic events as a result of crime and/or natural disasters.
“This initiative is truly a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in our community to help those who are struggling traumatic unfortunate situations,” said Deputy Mario Reyes, of the Sheriff’s office. f
The two organizations fundraised to make this thoughtful gesture a reality. A successful Fundraising event was held at the schools homecoming pep-rally. The ticket into the dance was a teddy bear donation or a $3.00 contribution. The LBV’s students donated 200 teddy bears and over $400 was collected. The money was used to purchase teddy bears from Build-A-Bear where club members from both organizations got the chance to personalize each bear. The students were informed that these bears are for children who are victims of crimes.
“Lamar Bruni Vergara Middle School is extremely proud to have participated in such a good cause and they learned that one small act of kindness like giving teddy bear can make a big difference in someone’s life,” said Melissa Moreno club sponsor.
