LAREDO, TEXAS – Working in collaboration, Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents and Laredo Police officers apprehended and processed two men previously convicted of first-degree murder for immigration violations following an ill-fated alleged re-entry attempt.

“This unity of effort between Border Patrol agents and Laredo Police to apprehend and process these convicted murderers for immigration violations exemplifies the whole of government approach to border enforcement embodied by the South Texas Campaign,” said South Texas Campaign Commander Robert L. Harris.

The incident unfolded on Nov. 24 when Laredo Police officers encountered and detained the two undocumented Mexican nationals, ages 36 and 38, both of them brothers from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico at a near-downtown intersection during a routine traffic stop. Laredo Police officers requested the assistance of Border Patrol agents. During processing of the men, Border Patrol agents discovered that the brothers had previously been convicted of first-degree murder in Cook County, Illinois and served six and 10-year sentences. Both were removed to Mexico upon completion of their sentences.

Both brothers were processed for immigration violations in connection with this incident.

Laredo Sector Border Patrol is part of the South Texas Campaign, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.
