Broncos update: LAR 7 @ AMA 10 T8

The Dillas started the scoring in the first inning.  Amarillo had runners on first and third with two outs, when Trent Lockwood hit a fly ball to right field.  Mario Mendez went back to grab the ball and dropped it, as two runs scored.  That gave the Dillas a 2-0 lead.

The Broncos answered in the top of the second.  Argelis Nunez and Juan Senreiso started off the inning with back to back singles.  Luany Sanchez then walked to load the bases.  Andres Santos was hit by a pitch that led to Nunez scoring.  Jaime Morales followed with a single that scored Senreiso.  Ryan Flynn then hit a two run double that scored both Sanchez and Santos.  Luis Ugueto then walked to reload the bases.  David Cardona then hit a two run single that scored Morales and Flynn.  The Broncos ended up sending 11 men to the plate, as they now led 6-2.

The Broncos added on to their lead in the third.  Luany Sanchez doubled and then stole third base.  Jaime Morales then knocked him in with a rbi single.  That chased the Dillas’ starter Justin Phillips from the game after two and a third innings of work.  The score was now 7-2.

The Dillas threatened in the fifth inning.  They loaded the bases with one out against Broncos’ starter Aaron Jenkins.  Stantrel Smith then cleared the bases with a triple.  That chased Jenkins from the game as Carlos Alvarez came in for Laredo.  Coby Mavroulis hit a sacrifice fly that scored Smith.  That now cut the Broncos lead to run, as the score was 7-6.

Jenkins went four and a third innings for the Broncos.  He gave up six runs, four of which were earned, on five hits.  He walked five batters and struck out one.

The Dillas took back the lead in the bottom of the sixth.  Eric Brown hit a two run home run, his first of the season.  Later in the inning, Carlos Figueroa reached on a three base error by Mario Mendez that allowed Andrew Wong to score.  Terrance McClain then hit a sacrifice fly to score Figueroa.  Amarillo now had a 10-7 lead.
