Courtesy Richard Pauza,

This year, Bring Your Child to Work Day celebrates its 21th year anniversary as millions of youth and adults look ahead, as this year’s theme, “Plant a Seed, Grow a Future,” suggests that an even bigger and brighter future lies ahead for all our nation’s daughters and sons. It reminds our youth to be brave as they dream seemingly impossible dreams, explore new challenges, and attain the success they have always hoped for in education, at work, at home, and in their communities. Such futures are possible because agencies like CBP, and all those involved in Bring Your Child to Work Day, provide a steady foundation for them to grow and build upon.

In seizing the opportunity to continue to encourage the 373 children of CBP that will be attending this event and expose them to the diversity of our agency, they will have an opportunity to interact and experience first-hand 14 different static displays, and officer demonstrations that include a hands-on fruit and wood agricultural inspection, live-fruit-fly display, intermediate force techniques, teens behind the wheel, internet safety, defensive tactics exhibition, handcuffing techniques, food product safety, a mock primary/secondary  inspection, how to make shoebox planters, and view first-hand the horse-patrol unit, two marine units and a CBP aircraft, too.

The event takes place today Thursday, April 17, 2014, 11:00 a.m at the  World Trade Bridge, located at 705 Bob Bullock Loop
