BRONCOS LOSE THEIR COOL IN LOSS TO DILLAS

July 25, 2009-Amarillo, TX-Three Laredo Broncos were ejected from the ballgame including manager Ricardo Cuevas, as they lost to the Amarillo Dillas by a score of 6-3 at Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa, on Saturday.

The Dillas scored in the first inning for the third straight game.  With runners on the corners and two outs, Terrance McClain popped out.  Robert Moron the Broncos’ first baseman tried to double off Andrew Wong who was at first base.  However his throw got a way and allowed the runner at third Keanon Simon to score.  That gave Amarillo the 1-0 lead.

The Broncos tied the game up in the second inning.  Argelis Nunez singled to start the inning.  After an out, Andres Santos singled moving Nunez to second.  OJ Garza then reached on a fielder’s choice, and the ball got by the first baseman which allowed Nunez to score.  That tied the game at 1.

Laredo took the lead in the third inning.  With one out, Luis Ugueto and Ryan Flynn hit back to back singles.  Mario Mendez followed with a rbi single that scored Ugueto.  The Broncos now had a 2-1 lead.

Amarillo tied the game in their half of the fourth.  The bases were loaded with two outs, when Andrew Wong drew a walk to score Sam Mclain.  The game was now tied at 2.

The Dillas grabbed the lead back in the fifth.  Terrance McClain led off with a solo home run, his fourth of the season.  That made the score 3-2.

During the top half of the sixth, Argelis Nunez was called out on a questionable strike three call.  In the middle of the sixth reliever Franklyn Gracesqui was ejected from the game.  Broncos’ manager Ricardo Cuevas then came out to defend his player and was also ejected.  Later on Broncos’ reliever Fernando Rijo was also ejected from the game.

The Dillas extended their lead in the sixth.  Keanon Simon hit a rbi single scoring Willie James who doubled.  Andrew Wong then followed with a double, and when Mario Mendez bobbled the ball in left field, Simon was able to score.  That gave Amarillo the 5-2 lead.

Luis Arroyo was taken out during the sixth inning.  He went five and a third innings giving up five runs, four of which were earned on nine hits.  He walked six batters and struck out three.  Julio Pinto came into the game and finished off the inning.

The Dillas made the score 6-2 in the seventh inning.  Brian Bueno hit a sacrifice fly scoring Eric Brown.

The Broncos jumped back on the scoreboard in the eighth.  Mario Mendez doubled and then scored on a single by Luany Sanchez.  That made it 6-3.

Edgar Soto pitched a scoreless eighth as the Broncos trailed by three runs heading to the ninth.  Richard Jessup came out looking for the complete game.  Jessup pitched a scoreless inning as the Dillas won by a score of 6-3.

The Broncos scored 3 runs on 10 hits and had 2 errors while the Dillas scored 6 runs on 10 hits and had 1 error.

The Broncos are now 15-28 on the season while the Dillas are 23-20.  The Broncos will next be in action Sunday July 26th, as they play the finale of a four game series against the Amarillo Dillas in Amarillo at 6:05.  You can listen to that game and all 80 Broncos games this year on our website www.laredobroncos.com through our partners at www.sportsujuice.com.
