The United ISD 6th graders rocked out to be drug free at the Webb County Sheriff’s 5th annual Drug-Free Awareness Concert…

(Laredo, Tx)-DJ’s “Necio,” and “D-Rock,” took their corners on stage at the Laredo Energy Arena representing both UISD and LISD as they battled in grand effort to promote drug free awareness.   This is the 5th annual Drug-Free Awareness Concert for 6th grade students sponsored by Sheriff Martin Cuellar and County Attorney Marc Montemayor.

Six Thousand 6th grade students citywide all sat at the edge of their seats captivated by the entertainment lineup.  Battle of the DJ’s started the show followed by motivational speaker, Dr. Marcus Nelson and closed with a performance by a local band Little Sister, which is comprised of UISD educators. Sarah Godines, a 6th grader from Trautmann Middle School, joined her parents Ramon and Monique Godines of Little Sister on stage and enchanted the crowd with “you are beautiful,” by Christina Aguilera.

“You can rock hard and still be a positive role model for young children,” said Ramon Godines, Music teacher at Killam Elementary, Guitarist & Vocalist of Little Sister.

Webb County Sheriff, Martin Cuellar and the Sheriff’s Office continue their mission to “keep our kids safe,” supporting the youth in the community by a promoting drug free awareness.  “Failure is not an option,” is the message from the Webb County Sheriff.
