BRONCOS BLANK WHITEWINGS TO SPLIT SERIES

July 17, 2009-Laredo, TX-the Laredo Broncos hit two home runs and shut out the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings by a score of 3-0 at Veterans Field, on Friday.
The Broncos scored first in the third inning. With 1 out, OJ Garza connected on a solo home run, his first of the season. That made the score 1-0 in favor of Laredo.
The Broncos added on to their lead in the fourth inning. Jaime Morales led off the inning with a single. Argelis Nunez then came up and smacked a two run home run, his seventh of the season. The score was now 3-0.
Both starters pitched well in the ballgame, and neither one deserved to lose the ballgame. Ryan Harris went seven innings giving up no runs on seven hits. He walked only one and stuck out one. Julio Pinto came in for the Broncos to pitch the 8th.
The WhiteWings starter Reymond Cruz ended up with a complete game. He gave up three runs on eight hits. He walked three batters and stuck out 6.
Franklyn Gracesqui came into the game in the ninth, looking for his second save of the season. The WhiteWings got the leadoff man on to start the inning, but Gracesqui retired the next three batters. Laredo picked up the victory by a score of 3-0.
The Broncos scored 3 runs on 8 hits and had 0 errors while the WhiteWings scored 0 runs on 8 hits and had 0 errors.
The Broncos are now 12-24 on the season while the WhiteWings are 16-20. The Broncos will next be in action Saturday July 18th, as they open up a four game series against the Edinburg Roadrunners in Laredo at 7:30.
