Peterson Makes Postseason All-Star Team

Courtesy Bill Harrington,

lemursLAREDO, TX – Laredo Lemurs catcher Brian Peterson has been named to the American Association Post Season All-Star Team.

To date Peterson has played 93 games for the Lemurs, picking up 97 hits, in 327 at bats, for a .292 batting average, with 5 home runs, 17 doubles, and 47 RBI’s.

Those are good offensive numbers for a 35 year old catcher, but offense isn’t the story when it comes to Brian Peterson.

Peterson is known around the league as the best defensive catcher in American Association.  He is especially good at throwing out runners on the base paths, with his finally tuned and very accurate arm.

This year Peterson has gunned down 28 runners trying to steal.  He has also picked off six runners taking extended leads on the base paths.  If you add it all up, Peterson has thrown out 34 percent of the base runners he has seen this season.

Along with being good at his position behind the plate, Peterson is a leader in the clubhouse and is a big reason why the Lemurs are in the playoff hunt in the American Association South Division.

The Laredo Lemurs start their last regular season series tonight against The Quebec Capitals.  The Lemurs are in a three way tie for first place in the American Association South Division with three games to play.
