Back and Fourth Match Goes to the Sox

Amarillo, TX – The Laredo Lemurs (39-33) took a 7-6 lead but could not hold on as the Amarillo Sox (39-30) scored five runs over the seventh and eighth to open up the three games series with an 11-7 win at Amarillo National Banks Sox Stadium Friday night.
The Lemurs would take the 7-6 lead in the top of the seventh by picking up five straight hits, scoring three runs, scaring Sox starter Joe Newby from the game.
Lemurs reliever Jon Jones, who took the ball after starter Seth Lintz in the fourth, stayed on to pitch to open the bottom of the seventh, giving up two runs to the Sox that put them back in the lead for good. Jones took the loss for the Lemurs going two and a third, giving up two runs, on four hits, with three walks, and a strikeout.
Lemurs leadoff hitter Harrison Kain had a nice night going four for five, with two runs scored, and an RBI. Danny Poma and Stephen Douglas each had two hits on the night for the Lemurs.
Jason Martin, Chris Valencia, and Cory Patton each had three hits during the game for the Sox to add to the team’s 16 total. The three combined for four RBI’s, two walks, and a run.
Josh Giles pitched a single inning of shutout relief to grab his second win of the season while Erik Draxton picked up his 12th save while striking out three over two innings.
