Lemurs Double Their Way to Victory

Laredo, TX – The Laredo Lemurs (20-12) doubled four times in the first and scored three runs as they go on to beat the Sioux Falls Canaries 5-3 to take the series in the first two game at Uni-Trade Stadium on Tuesday night.
With two outs in the first John Allen doubled into the right center field gap to tie the all-time hits record with 670 hits. That was followed up by a Sawyer Carroll double to drive in Allen and give the Lemurs a 1-0 lead. Palmer Karr would also double to score Carroll from second base to make it 2-0 Lemurs. Jon Gaston would wrap up the double fest with one of his own to bring home Karr and give the Lemurs and early 3-0 lead.
Mike Sheridan doubled in the fourth to bring in two more Lemurs runs to make it 5-2 Lemurs after four complete. In total the Lemurs picked up five doubles all of which drove in runs.
David Newmann (3-1) picked up the win tonight throwing five, giving up three runs, on eight hits, with a walk, and five strikeouts.
Adam Champion (3-2) took his first loss in four outing going six, giving up five runs, on nine hits, with four walks, and a strikeout.
The Laredo Lemurs will be at Uni-Trade Stadium through Wednesday, June 19as they face off against the Sioux Falls Canaries.
