(Laredo, TX ) Come and experience the newest addition to the Laredo Public Library Department.   Join the City of Laredo for the Grand Re-Opening of the Lamar Bruni Vergara Inner City Branch Library on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at 220 West Plum Street, next to the Inner City Pool.  With 48 computers, Internet access, over 6,500 books and magazines, computer classes, free WIFI, meeting rooms and story hours, this facility is a full service library.

“We are so thrilled to be able to provide library services to the citizens in this part of the city, especially for the children in this area,” said Mayor Pro Tempore Council Member Juan Narvaez, in whose district the project lies.

“We have many of the same programs and services as the main library.  This summer promises to be an exciting one.  We will be offering a full schedule of activities including the Summer Reading Club,” said Maria G. Soliz, director of the Laredo Public Library.

A unique feature of the branch library is its a rock climbing wall.

“To my knowledge, there is no other library with a rock climbing wall.  Staff has been trained on its use and we have already been contacted by groups, such as the Boys Scouts and Border Patrol, who would like to use it.  While they are there, maybe they can pick up a good book too,”  Soliz concluded.

The grand re-opening ceremony will include a performance by the students from Sanchez-Ochoa Elementary School choir.
