Laredo, Texas –U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry this Washington’s Birthday holiday weekend seized methamphetamine valued at $400,000 from a vehicle driven by a Mississippi woman.

The seizure occurred on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at Gateway to the Americas Bridge. A CBP officer referred a 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by a 51-year-old female U.S. citizen from Petal, Miss. for a secondary inspection.  CBP officers conducted a thorough inspection and discovered 23 bundles containing a total of 26.63 pounds of methamphetamine hidden within the vehicle.  The methamphetamine has a street value of $400,000.

CBP officers seized the alleged methamphetamines and arrested the woman. She was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.

“Our frontline CBP officers utilized their training, experience and technology to seize these dangerous narcotics,” said Sidney Aki, CBP Port Director, Laredo, Texas Port of Entry.  “As this seizure clearly illustrates, their perseverance and attention to detail continue to help keep this country safe.”
