LAREDO, Tx – Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) has named United Independent School District Superintendent Roberto J. Santos its 2012 award winner for Outstanding Service from a Community Leader.
Santos began participating in SOTX in 2004. He’s served the organization as an awards presenter at local bowling competitions and Spring Games. As superintendent of the United I.S.D., Santos was compelled to get involved after seeing firsthand the impact that Special Olympics Texas had on his community. He even donates the district’s Student Activity Complex to SOTX for athlete practices and area events.
The Outstanding Service from a Community Leader award is presented to the individual whose efforts on behalf of SOTX exceed expectations. On October 26, Special Olympics Texas will present the award to Santos for his achievements and recognize him at Opening Ceremonies for the 2012 Fall Classic in Bryan/College Station.

UISD is an exemplary district thanks to Mr. Santos leadership. His salary is equitable given the amount of issues he is held accountable for.
