Laredo Mayor Raul G. Salinas attended a leadership meeting of the United States Conference of Mayors in Dallas this week. “I enjoy coming to these meetings to learn what more we can do in Laredo to prepare for the jobs of the future, and I am equally excited to learn that what we are doing today in our City, is in fact cutting edge. There was a research study circulated at the conference that highlights communities that are growing in terms of good paying jobs and Laredo was right there at the top of the study.”
The mayor continued, “The focus of the meeting was on the role of the mayor in ensuring that we are educating today’s workforce for tomorrow’s jobs and to share with attending mayors, the resources that are available to make such efforts successful at the local level. While I come away with ideas from this meeting to share with the City Council and the School Districts, I am very proud to say that a great many of the job training efforts highlighted at the meeting, such as the those conducted by the Laredo Community College , are already available here in Laredo.”
