LISD Dedicates the New Laredo Early College High School

 The Laredo Independent School District dedicated the new Laredo Early College High School during a ribbon cutting ceremony  last week in the school’s cafeteria. Early College students, faculty, and staff were joined by present and past LISD Board Members, LISD superintendent of schools, TAMIU Administration, and members of Educate Texas to celebrate the opening of the new state-of-the-art facility.

 LISD Board Vice-President, Hector Garcia, board member George Beckelhymer and Superintendent Marcus Nelson and TAMIU President Ray Keck addressed the audience. Also during the ceremony school principal Jose Cerda was presented with a proclamation and a Texas state flag on behalf of Texas Senator Judith Zaffirini.

 The new two-story building which is located on the Texas A&M International University campus houses 400 students. The new $7 million building consist of 14 classrooms all equipped with 55 inch screen TV monitors for instruction, two computer labs, one science lab/classroom, administrative offices, conference room, cafeteria, an open dining space, resource/counseling/Go Center plus all required secondary spaces for 21st Century state-of-the-art learning.
