LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Laredo Port of Entry on Thursday apprehended an Indiana man wanted on an outstanding warrant for sexual misconduct with a minor.

The apprehension occurred on July 12, 2012 at Lincoln-Juarez Bridge . A CBP officer referred bus passenger Mario Muñoz Jr., a 36-year-old male U.S. citizen from Indianapolis , Ind. for a secondary examination. During the examination, CBP officers verified Muñoz’s identity and confirmed he had an outstanding state warrant for sexual misconduct with a minor. After confirming the warrant was active, CBP officers turned Muñoz over to the custody of Webb County sheriff’s deputies for transport to a local jail pending extradition proceedings.

“This is yet another significant fugitive arrest by vigilant CBP officers at the Laredo Port of Entry. Apprehending fugitives wanted for a variety of sexually-oriented and/or violent crimes is an important part of the work our officers do on a daily basis to keep our borders secure,” said Jose Uribe, Assistant Port Director, Laredo.
