This Weekend at TAMIU: Folklorico, Piano Concerts, Community Service, Mayan Secrets

Friday and Saturday: Folklorico Concerts – A remarkable opportunity to see traditional folkloric dance in action happens this weekend with the 2012 Ballet Folklórico Festival and Concert Friday, March 23 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 24, also at 7 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Theatre. Admission is free of charge and open to the public.
Saturday: The Big Event – Students will roll up their sleeves and flex some muscle for “The Big Event,” the University’s annual TAMIU day of service. Students will gather at 9 a.m. at Eistetter Park, 4301 San Francisco where they will focus on a neighborhood clean-up. Transportation will be provided from TAMIU to the event site beginning at 7:30 a.m. from the Student Center Rotunda.
Saturday: Secrets of the Maya – “2012: Ancient Skies, Ancient Mysteries” will have its Laredo premiere at the Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium. Show times are at 5, 6, 7 and 8 p.m.
Sunday: Steinway Piano Series – Internationally acclaimed, prize-winning pianist Sara Daneshpour will perform Sunday, March 25 at 3 p.m. at Texas A&M International University’s Center for the Fine and Performing Arts’ Recital Hall as part of the University’s Steinway Series. The Concert is free of charge and open to the public.
