(Laredo, TX )  There is an old Russian proverb that says that “women can do everything; men can do the rest.”  If that’s true, then the next class of inductees into the Laredo Commission for Women Hall of Fame have accomplished much more than any other woman or man in Laredo. Every two years, the Laredo Commission for Women selects a class of outstanding women to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, recognizing them for their accomplishments to improving the Laredo community.

This year’s class includes: Patricia Figueroa, Civic/Volunteer, a businesswoman and talented home decorator and jewelry designer who also unselfishly helps and serves in different civic organizations, assisting with awareness and fundraising efforts; Mindy Casso, Communications, an anchor/reporter at KGNS-TV a life-long resident of Laredo who comes into everyone’s homes on a  daily basis with news and other special reports, with a passion for communications and her community; Viola Moore, Education, a pioneer in education who is also described as a hard-working, loving, inspirational motivator with a pure heart, according to her peers, parish and community at large; Dalia Martinez, Finance, a local banker with IBC described as a role model for all bank employees, especially women, who dedicates her time to the Laredo Tennis Association and introducing tennis leagues to the Laredo community; Sara Alicia Flores, Government, a business woman who is described by her peers with having one guiding philosophy: “Her motto is service to her community above self;”  Maria Estela Quintanilla, Law Enforcement, a Laredo ISD Campus Crime Stoppers District Coordinator and Webb County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Consultant who is truly dedicated to the youth in the Laredo community to educate and keep safe and whose accomplishments have been recognized at a national level; and last, but not least, Patricia Alvarez, Legal, a local attorney who loves her community and will promote Laredo every chance she gets who is one of the few attorneys in South Texas recognized by her peers as “preeminent” in her field she is also a volunteer and member of  various local non-profit organizations.

The Twelfth Women’s Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the Laredo Civic Center Ballroom, located at 2400 San Bernardo Avenue.  Tickets are available:  $25 per person or $200 for a table of 10.
