CBP Officers at Eagle Pass Port of Entry Arrest Austin Man Wanted on Warrant for Homicide in Wichita Falls

EAGLE PASS, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry this weekend apprehended an Austin man wanted on an outstanding warrant for homicide in Wichita Falls , Texas .
The apprehension occurred on Oct. 15, 2011 at Eagle Pass International Bridge . A CBP officer referred a vehicle driven by Bernabe Arellano Perez, a 61-year-old male Mexican citizen from Austin , Texas for a secondary examination. During the examination, CBP officers verified Arellano Perez’s identity and confirmed he had an outstanding state warrant from Wichita County , Texas for homicide. After confirming the warrant was active, CBP officers turned Arellano Perez over to the custody of Maverick County sheriff’s deputies for transport to a local jail pending extradition proceedings.
“Our frontline CBP officers remained vigilant this weekend and that vigilance resulted in the apprehension of a man wanted on homicide charges in Wichita Falls . Apprehending persons wanted for violent offenses is part of CBP’s ongoing efforts to help keep our borders safe and secure,” said Cynthia Rodriguez, CBP Port Director, Eagle Pass.
