As stated in a press release by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, the Office of the District Attorney for Webb County is cooperating with the Attorney General’s investigation into the business practices of Elsa Valdez Slaney and Thomas Slaney. The administration of District Attorney Isidro R. Alaniz has received complaints regarding the Slaneys and has filed multiple charges of felony theft and deceptive trade practices against Elsa V. Slaney.
According to District Attorney Alaniz, “Elsa Slaney was formally charged and jailed in July of 2011 for theft and deceptive trade practices and will face criminal prosecution by my administration”.
I remember this woman from an older friend in middle school who happened to be her late granddaughter and elsa was the most abusive and psychotic and demented human being i have came across and i’m 26 now.
i never forgot how sick and evil she truly was and how disgusting for the leaders of laredo to let her slide with such repulsive actions.
i thank the lord for getting me away from that toxic waste of a city.
Those who think the patron system was or is dead are fools!! Toss these names around into the patron mix Henry Cuellar (puppet master) Martin Cuellar Rosie Cuellar you have to name the royalty first then you have every other elected official who fall under them raul salinas danny valdez fill in the blanks in case I missed someone ___________ _____________ _______ _____________ you get the picture.
My family was the victim of this lady;
We went numerous times to the DA office wanting to talk to DA Mr. Alaniz but he never had the time. This lady was charged in July 2010, just after the State Attorney General got involved in the case. Why was she never charged before? She had more than 27 police reports against her business expanding for years. Her MO was to give hot checks as refunds. What about the DAs Hot checks division? The same story, they never acted. This lady openly expressed that Mr. Chilo Alaniz was her friend and that she was untouchable. Was this true? What can one think, when she was free to operate a business that defrauded more than 27 clients (and counting)and nobody in the DAs office appeared to care. I believe that the DAs office should work for the public, implementing justice but apparently here in Laredo, the law applies depending who you know in the politics. Is it possible that the “Patron System” is still alive in the city?
