Webb County Sheriff’s Deputies Apprehend

Laredo, Texas – On Monday, July 25, 2011 at approximately 6:00pm, deputies of the Webb County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a child sex predator. 62 year-old Jose Noe Flores was wanted on a capias warrant issued out of the 406th District Court. The Crime Stoppers Unit of the Webb County Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous call that provided deputies with the information of Flores’ whereabouts.
Immediately after verifying the warrant information with the Warrants Division of the Sheriff’s Office, deputies and investigators apprehended Flores at a residence in the 300 block of Coronado in Laredo, Texas, Webb County. Jose Noe Flores was wanted after an indictment on continuous sexual abuse of a child less than 14 years of age. After his arrest Flores was transported to the Webb County Jail in lieu of bond.
Sheriff Martin Cuellar stated, “I am very proud of the work of the Crime Stoppers Unit and happy to know that the community trusts the Webb County Sheriff’s Office when reporting criminal activity to our professional investigative team; we will continue making every effort to keeping our kids safe”.

A Laredo attorney from a prominent family there was handed a 2 ½-year prison sentence Monday in a Dallas federal court for acting as a bag man for Mexican drug traffickers trying to pay off a government informant.
Alonzo Ramos, 40, admitted that in 2008 he acted as an intermediary for Mexican drug traffickers who wanted to buy the silence of a Houston-based smuggler who’d been busted. Ramos offered $48,500 to Lizandro Tijerina, who was on trial in New Orleans, in exchange for the smuggler’s silence. Tijerina, it turned out, was already cooperating with federal authorities and recorded his conversations with Ramos. Later, federal agents watched as Ramos delivered the cash to one of Tijerina’s relatives in Laredo.
