DEL RIO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry this weekend apprehended a Ft. Worth woman wanted on outstanding warrants for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 and theft of property.  The apprehension occurred on July 10, 2011 at the International Bridge . A CBP officer referred a Mexican taxicab containing passenger Nora Patricia Contreras, a 22-year-old female U.S. citizen from Ft. Worth , Texas for a secondary examination. During the examination, CBP officers verified Contreras’s identity, citizenship and confirmed she had outstanding state warrants from Tarrant County , Texas for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 years of age and theft of property. After confirming the warrants were active, CBP officers turned Contreras over to the custody of Del Rio police officers for transport to a local jail pending extradition proceedings.

“This is an excellent apprehension and it shows the effectiveness of our officers in detecting and detaining wanted persons,” said Michael Perez, CBP Port Director, Del Rio . “Apprehending people who have outstanding warrants, particularly those of a sexual nature involving children, is an important component to our border security work at the Del Rio Port of Entry.”
