The City of Laredo will be promoting National Community Development Week with a proclamation and listing of featured projects funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Since 1975, City of Laredo has received approximately $116.8 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds since1975. These funds have been utilized on activities which benefit low and moderate income households and address community needs. CDBG funds have been specifically utilized to carry out infrastructure improvements such as pedestrian bridges, water, sewer, and drainage improvements, and sidewalks. Funds were also utilized for housing rehabilitation, construction and improvement of parks, recreation centers, implementation of code enforcement activities, demolition of substandard structures, land acquisition and relocation, and to fund public service activities.
