Courtesy Monica Garcia,

The District Attorney’s Shoot for the Stars clay tournament raised $65,500.00 for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Laredo.  The benefit was held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the South Texas Shooting Complex, which is located nine miles east of Laredo on highway 359.  Together with sponsors, 116 participants and a staff of volunteers from the District Attorney’s Office, the event ran from 8am to 5pm and raised monies that will help children that turn to the Advocacy Center for services.

This was the third of what has become an annual event for the District Attorney’s Office.  As this year’s beneficiary, the Children’s Advocacy Center was selected due to their successful history of providing comprehensive services to victimized children and their non-abusive family at no cost.  Under the direction of Sylvia Bruni, the Center provides extensive and appropriate services to young victims of sexual, physical and emotional abuse.

The check was presented to the Director of the Children’s Advocacy Center, Mrs. Sylvia Bruni and to the Board of Directors on Monday, August 18th at the annual conference of the Advocacy Center, which was held at the UISD Student Activity Center.
