Arrest made in Monday’s Officer Involved Shooting

After being released from a San Antonio Hospital yesterday, Jorge Alberto Enriquez, was returned back to Laredo under police custody and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Evading Arrest. Enriquez allegedly stole a vehicle from a shopping Mall in the North side of town. The description was given out to patrol. A patrolman spots the Black in color Camaro near bridge #1. The suspect vehicle driven by Enriquez fled from the officer. The car crashed and was spun around facing the officer. When the officer exited his vehicle he felt threatened and resorted to using deadly force and shot the suspect. The suspect was grazed in the upper head area. He was taken to a San Antonio hospital for precautionary measures due to the wound to his head. The case remains under internal investigation. The officer has been assigned to desk duties pending the internal investigation of this incident as per procedure.
