Traffic Stop on HWY 359 leads to Narcotics Seizure

Laredo, Texas (Webb County) – On Thursday December 9, 2010 at approximately 8:50 pm, while conducting a motor vehicle stop authorities of the Webb County Sheriff’s Office arrested a subject on HWY 359 and Emiliano. Authorities of the Sheriff’s Office observed the vehicle commit a traffic violation which resulted in the stop. Upon approaching the vehicle the deputy observed the driver identified as Jose Ramon Esquivel of 20 years of age, hand over a to a female passenger an unknown substance. Upon obtaining consent from Esquivel to search the vehicle it was determined that Esquivel was in possession of a white powdery substance. Subsequently, Esquivel was arrested and charged for possession of a controlled substance (F/2) which equaled 35.9 grams of cocaine with a street value of $2,261.00. Esquivel was then remanded to the Webb County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
