LPD Seizes Money Load

On Friday December 10th a Laredo Police Pipeline Officer, during normal patrol duties, pulled over a Kenworth Bobtail truck on the south bound lane at the 15 mile marker of I-35 for a routine traffic violation. The officer noted that the driver of the truck was extremely nervous and indicated inconsistencies with details of his travel plans when interviewed by the officer. The officer received consent to search by the driver and an LPD K-9 detected trace amounts of narcotics in the truck. The truck was moved to LPD headquarters where upon further inspection the K-9 officer found a black bag with a large amount of undeclared currency. The currency, believed to be in the $60,000 to $100,000.00 range was seized. The driver was identified and released pending an ongoing investigation. The actual amount of the currency is currently pending a verifiable count which was not done as of the time this press statement was released.
