Two hundred fifty (250) Rancho Peñitas West Colonia residents in Webb County Pct. 4 will not have to brave the cold winter days and nights this holiday season thanks to the United High School Seniors – Bimstein Buddies Blanket Brigade lead by Ms. Linda Raye Bimstein, UHS English teacher. “The students wanted to do something really special, and we realized that many Colonia families don’t have some of the luxuries we sometimes take for granted” said Bimstein.
With so many toys drives already taking place all over the City, the Bimstein Buddies along with several faculty & staff decided on the following Motto: “Covering our needy families and children with warmth and love this Holiday season” and set a goal to collect two hundred and fifty blankets (250) for those families with the greatest need. These very special UHS Seniors, taking Dual Credit at TAMIU, surpassed their original goal and collected five hundred (500) blankets. The additional blankets will be donated to the Salvation Army, STCADA and Bethany House.
