El Metro Adds Additional Morning Bus to Route 16 During Trial Period

LAREDO, Texas – In response to increased ridership demand on Route 16, El Metro Transit System is launching a trial period featuring an additional morning bus to better serve passengers and Texas A&M International University students.
Beginning September 17, 2026, through December 31, 2026, the regular Route 16 bus will depart at 7:00 a.m., followed by an additional bus at 7:15 a.m.
El Metro will monitor ridership throughout the trial period. If demand remains strong, the transit system will consider continuing the additional service beyond December 31.
Passengers are encouraged to plan accordingly and take advantage of the expanded morning service.
