(Laredo, Texas)-Woman arrested for allegedly disposing of her daughter’s remains, sentenced to maximum punishment for violating her probation
Monica Yvonne Dominguez, the woman accused of tampering with her daughter’s corpse has been sentenced to 10 years to serve on a revocation of a 2016 case.
On February 14, 2019, during her time on probation, Dominguez was accused of committing a heinous offense and was charged with tampering or fabricating with physical evidence, namely a human corpse, a second-degree felony, abuse of a corpse without legal authority, a state jail felony and abandoning or endangering a child by criminal negligence, a state jail felony in the State of Texas. It is alleged that Dominguez endangered her daughter, Rebecka. Dominguez and her husband, Gerardo Zavala-Loredo placed Rebecka’s body into a bucket, filled it with acide and sealed it with tape in an attempt to dissolve her remains.
During her motion to revoke hearing, the State presented evidence of Dominguez’ continuous neglect and abuse to her children. Dominguez was sentenced to 10 years to serve, the maximum punishment before the 406th District Court Judge Oscar J. Hale Jr.
The investigation into the remains of Rebecka’s corpse is still ongoing.
Assistant District Attorney Joaquin Rodriguez prosecuted the case for the State.
