United ISD 2019 Annual District Spelling Bee

(Laredo, Texas)-United ISD held its Annual Spelling Bee for students in grades 3-8 at the SAC Auditorium. Thirty nine (39) contestants representing United ISD elementary and middle schools competed on stage in front of an audience comprised of friends, family, and District staff. All students in the District Spelling Bee qualified for the competition by winning first place at their respective campus spelling bees.
After the intense rounds plus the championship word “Paralysis,” Emmanuel Rimocal, a 6th grader at Lamar Bruni Vergara Middle School, eased into 1st place ranking. Moreover, Emmanuel is a seasoned contestant as he placed first at the 2017 District and City-wide Spelling Bee where He advanced to Nationals. Other winners included Farrell Meng, a 5th grader at Trautmann Elementary School, and Nathaniel Rimocal, 3rd grader from Kennedy-Zapata Elementary School.
All 39 contestants from United ISD’s Annual Spelling Bee will enter the City-Wide Spelling Bee scheduled for March 23, 2019 at TAMIU. Their competitors will include students from Laredo ISD and area private schools.
1st Place – Emmanuel Rimocal, 6th Grade Student at Lamar Bruni Vergara Middle School
2nd Place – Farrell Meng, 5th Grade Student at Trautmann Elementary School
3rd Place – Nathaniel Rimocal, 4th Grade Student at Kennedy Zapata Elementary School
