(Laredo, Texas)-Residents can begin their 2018 holiday season fun by celebrating under and with the stars at Christmas in the Park, starting on Friday, November 30.  The family-friendly and free winter festival is held at  Municipal Park, right next to McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium at 1921 Bicentennial Boulevard, and features food, fun, vendors, arts & crafts and entertainment for the whole family.  Christmas in the Park will kick off with a carnival winter spectacular on  Thursday, November 29.

The excitement continues the next evening, Friday, November 30 at an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurate the start of the event when Christmas in the Park opens its doors, starting at 5:00 p.m.  There, attendees will get a chance to enter into the much-lauded Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame Museum, being featured once again at Christmas in the Park, thanks to the Dr. Raul Peña and Peña Eye Institute.

“Being a part of the McAllen Holiday Parade, which is becoming such a special part of the

Christmas tradition for families here in the Rio Grande Valley, is really exciting for Peña

Eye Institute,” said Dr. Peña.  “We are proud of the eye care we provide the community

and being theRio Grande Valley’s Official IntraLASIK Surgeon of the Dallas Cowboys.

Additionally, we are especially proud to be able to extend the relationship that we have

with America’s Team, the Dallas Cowboys, to bring that excitement to the festivities at

Christmas in the Park and the magic to this year’s McAllen Holiday Parade,” he concluded.

The Dallas Cowboys On Tour is a mobile program dedicated to bringing the Cowboys experience to the fans. This one-of-a-kind attraction provides an interactive opportunity for all fans to enjoy.  The Hall of Fame Museum is filled with exhibits depicting the history of the Dallas Cowboys including: Super Bowl trophies and rings; Super Bowl MVP lockers; historic uniforms; Tom Landry display; seven flat-screen monitors; jumbo screen; life-size statues of Bob Lilly and Emmitt Smith; and much more!

ʺThe traveling exhibit isa  favorite among die-hard Dallas Cowboys fans,ʺ said McAllen City Manager Roel ʺRoyˮ Rodriguez, P.E. ʺIt is almost like entering a shrine or chapel, the reverence the long-time fans show.  I also enjoy watching the kidsʼ reaction to the true representations of the size of some actual Cowboys,ˮ Rodriguez concluded.

During the McAllen Holiday Parade on Saturday night, be on the lookout for the Peña Eye Institute float, which is a replica of the Dallas Cowboys home stadium and will feature America’s Sweethearts, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and that smiling mascot himself, Rowdy.  Starting today, fans will get a chance to become entered into a drawing to be one of the lucky few who will get an autograph and photo session with the cheerleaders, thanks to Peña Eye Institute.  Listen to any one of the McAllen Holiday

Parade media partners for chances to win.

However, the Dallas Cowboys and Cheerleaders aren’t the only stars that will be shining brightly at Christmas in the Park.  R Communications, home of Super Tejano 102.1 FM, Digital 101.5 FM, La Ley 102.5 FM La Lupe 89.1 FM and KURV-710 AM, and television stations  RTV, PBS and COZI and Entravision,  home of Q 94.5 THE ROCK STATION FM; 107.9 MIX FM; La TriColor 99.5 FM; La Suavecita 101.1 FM and television stations FOX-South Texas, The Valley’s CW 212, UniMas and of course, Univision-Valle del Rio Grande will be bringing not one, not two, not three, but four high-octane artists to the main stage at Christmas in the Park for both Friday and Saturday night.  And the best part?  It is free for the whole family.

Friday night will feature The Jimmy Gonzalez Band, a tribute band that continues the musical legacy of late, great, multiple Grammy-Award winner Jimmy González.  Most of the members of the Jimmy Gonzalez Band were part of the Tejano legend’s musical journey, including his son Mike González, Homero Esquivel who was part of the original Grupo Mazz in the 1990s; Johnny “Rod” Rodriguez, who played with Jimmy for almost two decades; Danny Ortiz who first started with him when he first went solo; as well as Damián Vasquez, Di Marie and Memo Rincón, who all still play his music to honor this legendary artist.

As if that weren’t enough, the night will conclude with the high-powered performance of the multi-Grammy-nominated, multiple award-winning best-selling group Jaime y Los Chamacos. Founded in 1982, by accordionist and frontman Jaime de Anda, the best-selling Jaime y los Chamacos have been a household name for fans of Tejano and Conjunto music.  Their live shows are one-of-a-kind with their wild dance moves and a long list of hit singles. The group is huge on both sides of the border, appealing to both Conjunto and Tejano fans, PLUS Mexican audiences.

ʺ¿Se cansaron?ˮ  Hopefully, not because the fun is just getting started.

Christmas in the Park and all the carnival, vendor and food fun opens on Saturday, December 1 at 12:00 p.m. and attendees will want to stick around for the end of the parade, when Sonora 100%  Dinamita de Anaidita and Grupo Estruendo take to the main stage to rock the park, al estilo Norteño Regional and Cumbia Tropical.

Entravision is also announcing their star de jour, Arap Bethke, an actor as talented as he is good-looking, with all of the appearances and accolades to back up the claim, will be making his inaugural appearance in McAllen.  Arap will be a part of the McAllen Holiday Parade celebrity line-up, making appearances with local children, being a part of the special VIP Meet & Greet with some lucky fans and of course, as a key attraction of the Entravision float.

This year, a special Opening Ceremony Holiday Extravaganza is kicking off the celebration at 5:00 p.m. before the official start of the McAllen Holiday Parade at 6:00 p.m.  The show will feature Anthony Gonzalez, the voice of Miguel as heard on the Oscar-winning animated film Coco, as he will be joined by mariachis, ballet folklorico dancers and 4th and 5th grade choir students from McAllen I.S.D., right in the middle of the field of McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium, 2001 N. Bicentennial Boulevard.  The show is included in the price of admission for stadium ticket holders for the parade.    Get your ticket today for stadium seating to the parade and the show opener.  Tickets are on sale at the McAllen Convention Center Box Office, 700 Convention Center Boulevard or atwww.Tickemaster.com.
