Carlos Romo indicted for continuous sexual abuse of a child

(Laredo, Texas)-The District Attorney’s Office reports the indictment for Carlos Romo by the111th District Court for continuous sexual abuse of a child, indecency with a child and possession of child pornography.
On Saturday, December 2, 2017, the Laredo Police Department Communications Division received a call from a woman wanting to file a sexual abuse report. An investigation was launched between the Laredo Police Department Special Investigations Unit and Child Protective Services, which revealed that the child had been sexually assaulted by a man she knew. The child outcried that she had been abused since she was six years old. During a voluntary interview with LPD, Romo denied all allegations.
Carlos Romo was arrested on January 26, 2018, and charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, a first-degree felony in the State of Texas. After further investigation, Romo was subsequently charged with possession of child pornography, a third-degree felony in the State of Texas.
Romo was indicted for continuous sexual abuse of a child, indecency with a child and possession of child pornography, a first-degree, second-degree and third-degree felony in the State of Texas, respectively.
An arraignment hearing is pending.
