CBP Officers Seize $679K in Hard Narcotics at the Juarez-International Bridge

LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers intercepted a significant narcotic seizure with an estimated street value of more than $679,000 in one enforcement action.
“This significant seizure was possible because of the continued vigilance and alertness our CBP officers’ put forth on a daily basis,” said Port Director Albert Flores, Laredo Port of Entry.
The seizure occurred on Monday, Sep. 24, when a CBP officer referred a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 37-year-old male Mexican citizen who resides in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico for a secondary examination. After conducting a thorough examination and utilizing a CBP canine, CBP officers discovered 23 packages containing 34 pounds of alleged methamphetamine. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $679,457.
CBP officers seized the narcotics and arrested the driver. The case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
