LAREDO, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) CBP officers at Laredo Port of Entry on Sunday seized methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $124,000.

“Despite searing heat, our frontline CBP officers continue to maintain their vigilance and that dedication to service yielded another significant narcotics load that will not reach U.S. streets,” said Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry.

On Sunday, July 1, CBP officers at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge referred a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck for a secondary inspection. During the secondary inspection, CBP officers along with the help of a canine team conducted a thorough examination and found narcotics hidden within luggage. CBP officers discovered five packages containing a total of 8.9 pounds of alleged methamphetamine. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $124,692.

CBP OFO seized the narcotics and vehicle. The case remains under investigation by Homeland Security Investigations special agents.
