Two United High School’s Best Sign College Scholarships

(Laredo, Texas)-United High School (UHS), held a double scholarship ceremony on April 6, 2018. First to sign a baseball scholarship for Mc Pherson College in McPherson, Kansas was Adrian Martinez. He was accompanied by his parents, Ilda and Mario Martinez. Adrian is a National Honor Society student who joined the longhorn baseball team during his sophomore year. This year, he won the 2018 Wendy’s Heisman Trophy. He is a hard working student who is looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead. Adrian plans to major in business and marketing.
Ruben Martinez signed his scholarship for cross-country at Colby Community College in in Colby, Kansas. Ruben joined the UHS cross- country team during his sophomore year, and has received much praise from the UHS coaching staff for his accomplishments on and off the track. Moreover, Ruben took second place in the 1600 meter dash at the 2018 Laredo City Meet. Ruben was accompanied by his parents Jimmy Dean and Nancy Dean. His long term ambition is to study dentistry at the University of Texas
