City of McAllen to Receive It’s Time Texas Trophy and Prize Money

This was the first time the City of McAllen participated in the It’s Time Texas! community health challenge. The City of McAllen Health & Code Enforcement Department reached out to partnering agencies in the community, such as McAllen I.S.D., head start schools and even private businesses to get involved and signed up.
A highlight for the department was registering former astronaut and McAllen resident Michael Fossum for the challenge. Mayor Jim Darling initiated the Mayor’s Health Fitness Council which includes staff and health leaders in the community, including McAllen I.S.D., several of the hospitals, H-E-B, and Mexican Olympian German Medrazo, to name a few. The Council will be introduced at the ITT Award Ceremony.
